RSC 2026: August #1

Hi Quilting Friends,

Yellow Scrappy Box by Sharon @ Ms P Designs USA

Coffee Mug

Oops! I already have three YELLOW coffee mugs, which is plenty for my project.

Instead, I opted to use PURPLE scraps for my August block, since I’ve only made one PURPLE mug.

YELLOW and PURPLE are complementary colors, so I guess this works out well. Here’s my new PURPLE coffee mug-

Post-game fireworks. What a blast!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great week!

Happy quilting,

  1. In addition to the ballgame, your scraps and scrappy fabric bin are a blast too! Sometimes you have to make an “executive decision” and work with what you need rather than what’s called for for the month. A perfect pivot and great new mug blocks!

  2. The post-game fireworks after the Astros win sound like a perfect way to end the week. I can only imagine the energy in the stadium. It is interesting how you swapped the yellow scraps for purple mugs because you already had three yellow ones. That is a smart move to keep the project balanced. I often find that when I am sitting for long periods, my hips get stiff, so I make a point to stand up and shift my weight side to side every hour. It helps keep the joints loose without any strain. Your purple heart sounds lovely too. It is nice to see you mixing complementary colors in your scrap collection. Thanks for sharing the details of your game night and your progress on the blocks.

  3. Your August block with YELLOW and PURPLE scraps sounds vibrant, especially the purple coffee mug you made. I liked how you noted that YELLOW and PURPLE are complementary colors, which gives the project a nice contrast. The Astros game with Mr. Fixit, Nathan & Gaby must have been a fun outing, and the fireworks after the game added a festive touch. It’s great to see how you weave your quilting projects with everyday moments. Your enthusiasm for the craft shines through, and I hope the rest of the month brings more creative inspiration.
